Terms of Service
These terms are the agreement between you and Conflate when you use the Conflate website and dashboard. By creating an account or using Conflate, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Conflate.
What Conflate is
Conflate is a dashboard for student athletes. It reads your classes and assignments from Canvas and your events from your calendar, shows them together, and suggests when to do your homework around your schedule.
Your account
- You sign in with your email address, your password and a one-time code we email you. Keep your password to yourself, and keep access to that email secure: anyone with your email can reset your password.
- Give a real email address that you control, and use Conflate only for yourself.
- You must be at least 13 years old to use Conflate.
- You’re responsible for what happens under your account. If you think someone else has gotten in, email us at wall.jak@northeastern.edu and revoke your Canvas token in Canvas.
Connecting Canvas and your calendar
- Only connect accounts that are yours. By adding a Canvas token or calendar link, you allow Conflate to read from those accounts on your behalf, as described in our Privacy Policy.
- Conflate only reads. It never submits work, posts, or changes anything in Canvas or your calendar.
- Your school’s and your providers’ own rules still apply to your accounts. It’s up to you to make sure using an access token is allowed by your school.
- Conflate isn’t affiliated with, or endorsed by, your school, Instructure (Canvas), Microsoft (Outlook), Google (Google Calendar) or Anthropic (Claude).
Acceptable use
Please don’t:
- use someone else’s account, token or calendar without their permission;
- try to get into other people’s data, or into parts of Conflate you aren’t meant to reach;
- overload, disrupt or attack the service, or use automated tools to make large numbers of requests;
- copy, resell or build a competing service from Conflate;
- use Conflate for anything illegal, or that breaks your school’s rules.
We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules or put the service or other users at risk.
Estimates and schedules are suggestions
Conflate’s homework time estimates come from AI and from rules of thumb. Its plans, effort ratings and schedules are suggestions to help you organize your time, not guarantees. Always check due dates, grades and instructions in Canvas and with your instructors; Conflate can be out of date, incomplete or wrong. You’re responsible for your own coursework, deadlines and commitments, including athletic ones.
Limits
Some features have limits, such as how many homework estimates each person can get each month. When a limit is reached, the app keeps working with simpler estimates. We may change these limits over time.
Pricing
Conflate is currently free to use. If we introduce paid plans or features, we’ll tell you before anything changes, and we won’t charge you unless you choose a paid plan.
Changes and availability
We’re continually improving Conflate, so features may change, be added or be removed. We try to keep it running smoothly, but it may sometimes be unavailable, and we can’t promise it will always work without interruption. We may stop offering Conflate; if we do, we’ll give notice where we reasonably can.
Ending your use
You can stop using Conflate at any time. Disconnect your accounts or delete your account in Settings. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms.
Ownership
Your information stays yours; you allow Conflate to use it only to provide the service to you. Conflate itself, including its design, code, name and logo, belongs to us.
Disclaimers
Conflate is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including that it will be accurate, reliable, uninterrupted or error-free, or fit for a particular purpose.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Conflate and the people behind it won’t be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for missed assignments, deadlines, grades, practices or other commitments, arising from your use of Conflate or your inability to use it. Our total liability for any claim relating to Conflate is limited to the amount you paid us for Conflate in the 12 months before the claim, or the smallest amount the law permits.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. When we do, we’ll change the date at the top, and for significant changes we’ll let you know by email or in the app. Continuing to use Conflate after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
